Eggs!

For our client assignment we were told to photograph a dozen eggs and that was all the direction we got.  We were allowed to interpret and illustrate the eggs any way we liked.  Since I enjoy arts and crafts from time to time I thought I would decorate the eggs in a neat way not many people have seen.  It was time consuming but fun, by the end there was glitter everywhere.

Panoramic

In our digital imaging class we were told to photograph a 180 degree panoramic.  I had remembered a spot I had previously shot for my large format class.  I went back to that location to do my panoramic.  This is my first panoramic so be nice.  I'm looking forward to doing more.

Vintage

I had the idea of doing an extravagant Kentucky Derby style hat shoot but being in NC you can't really find hats in that style. I found a great hat at a costume store called At The Ritz Costumes in Greensboro.  I also found a great dress at Designer Archives in Greensboro.  A huge thanks to both of those place for letting me rent the hat and dress.  After I got the outfit it turned into a more vintage feel rather than at the derby which I liked just as much.  Special thanks to Kourtney Pierce who modeled for me out in the blazing hot sun she was great.

Beauty

For my third self promo I wanted to do an up close beauty shot.  I am lucky enough to have a good friend, Aimee Creapeau, who is a make up artist for Arbonne. Aimee was up for anything I wanted her to do which made it a lot easier to work with her to produce my vision in the make up.  Aimee also picked out the model who is Jenna Severt and she was great to work with, she followed direction great and I got exactly what I wanted.  So a special thanks to both Aimee Creapeau and Jenna Severt!

Natural Alphabet

We went on a field trip the other week to downtown Greensboro, NC.  We were told to find natural letters and then we were going to make a poster out of it so heres my poster.

Brooke

I went and visited with a friend and during our free time we shot some senior portraits for her.  It was a lot of fun and very entertaining.  I used my vivitar with a softbox on it to light her.

Amanda & Ethan

While we were working on the computer lifestyle shoot we decided to take a few pictures of just them.  Once again it was interesting to work with them because neither one of them could be serious so of course the best picture is of them laughing.

Baby Braxton

This weekend I had the joy of taking newborn photos of Braxton.  He is precious and was easy to work with.  Although he got a little grumpy at times, I don't blame him I wouldn't want someone popping bright lights in my eyes.

Computer Fun!

I had the pleasure of working with a great friend and her family and boyfriend for my third client assignment.  The assignment was a computer lifestyle shoot with 5 different scenes.  The family was great and we had a lot of fun. Here are some of the serious ones.

Now here are some out-takes that made this shoot a lot of fun.

Polish It Up

For my second self promo I wanted to do a product shot of nail polish and instead of doing just the spill I wanted to be creative with it.  It took me a while to get this idea of the O with the word curling around the bottle and it took some time to perfect the polish because I had to paint it on myself but in the end I like it and I hope you do too. I used the same lighting set up as the foundation below just a few more fill cards.

Foundation

For my first self promo I wanted to challenge myself by doing a still life instead of taking photos of people.  I wanted to do make up shots and I thought I would do a play on words since it's foundation I built up the powder to make it look like the foundation of the compact. Enjoy!

Faces of Greensboro

Today in our Digital Imaging class we went on a field trip to downtown Greensboro, NC for a photo safari.  The assignment was to find the alphabet in signage and just natural letters from shapes and different objects that happen to look like letters. While we were looking for natural letters I kept coming across faces that I did not set up so I thought I would share.

You have to look hard for this one but the scream face is in there.

Us & Them

For our second client shot we were give the task to illustrate a book cover for the book Us & Them.  This book is about intolerance in the American history.   Since race was a big issue in the book I wanted to show one face with all different skin colors on it in a puzzle to show we all fit together in some way.  I shot this with my Nikon D90 with a 24-85mm lens 1/4 sec at f/7.1 ISO 200 with 1 Broncolor strobe with a soft box on it in front of her and to the right.  The make up was done by me.

Special thanks to Holli Hartman who is a fellow second year in the photojournalism concentration for modeling for me and sitting patiently while I did her make up you can check her work out here http://holliwoodhartmanphotography.blogspot.com/
